Permaculture Book Reviews: Although our time is very much occupied during a Permaculture Design Course at Daruma, we do try to pack in as much as possible. A thorough review of the literature, is one of the things that is of course well outside the scope of a PDC. We do, however, have a physical Library on-site with over 1,000 books covering all the many fields that you could think of within any of the Permaculture Domains of Action.

We introduced ‘book reviews’ into our PDC more than 10 years ago and they are always popular as well as a benefit for everyone to get a good ‘second opinion’ on some of our recommendations. You can see these permaculture book reviews here.

The library at Daruma is stocked with over 800 books either with ‘Permaculture‘ actually in the title, or books that are directly related to the topics covered in our Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC) Courses and Natural Building Courses.

Permaculture: A Designers’ Manual by Bill Mollison, The Permaculture Handbook by Peter Bane, Permaculture Principles & Pathways by David Holmgren, Introduction to Permaculture by Bill Mollison, You Can Have Your Permaculture And Eat It Too by Robin Clayfield, The Permaculture Earthworks Handbook, RetroSuburbia by David Holmgren and many other titles.

Other titles on the shelves range from Physics to Photography, an entire shelf of books on brewing beer, learning Thai, Mathematics, greywater, how to mind map, earthen plasters, telescopes, history, food, cooking, preserving, ecological design, composting.

There is a book, aptly titled ‘The Volume Library” which seems to be an encyclopedia of everything. And yes, it is voluminous!

A book lover interested in any of the topics concerning the creation and upkeep of Eco Villages could spend many a happy hour in here. So could beer connoiseurs, musicians, lovers of Latin, those with a fetish for Astronomical objects, and mad chem lab scientists (The Organic Chem Lab Survival Manual).

A cornucopian plethora of literature to be absorbed by, if you are not already consumed with studying your PDC or other courses during your stay.

See our Library Thing listing below for an up to date listing of books we have currently scanned in to our Library Thing account.  You can view our entire catalogue here at LibraryThing.
